Reckless Abandon is the eighth episode in the ninth season of the CBC drama Heartland. It originally aired November 22, 2015.
Synopsis[]
Lisa encourages Lou to go on a date with the insurance inspector. Lou goes to coffee with him discovers she is not ready to date so she turns down a second date. He fails the inspection and she thinks it is because she turned him down, but there are just a few minor things that need to be fixed. Tim tries to fix Casey's trailer, but he thinks it is a hint for him to ask her to move in with him. Tim and Casey have a misunderstanding when she buys a house. Amy's applied Bear to become a police horse and attempts to help Georgie deal with the impending departure. Georgie gives Bear and Buddy the goodbye they need. Georgie and Stephen finally have their lunch together and Stephen breaks the news that he is moving away for good. Olivia brings her attitude and horse to Amy to look at, Georgie thinks the problem is all Olivia and rides him to prove her wrong, but the horse gets injured.
Plot[]
Olivia's horse Budget Buster is brought to Heartland for help. When Olivia argues that Amy can't fix her horse, Georgie rides Buster trying to show Olivia is the problem but the horse is injured. The Calgary Police Service inspect Bear and Amy lets them have him, angering Georgie. She gets angrier when her friend Stephen says he's moving away. Georgie heedlessly blames Amy for the injury and for Stephen's departure. Amy tells Georgie that Olivia's horse has kissing spines and should recover, and Bear will be happy in his new role. Bear and Buddy have a final farewell. Meanwhile, Tim thinks Casey wants them to live together, but Casey gently explains she has bought a house for herself. Tim acts relieved but is disappointed. An insurance inspector examines the Heartland loft; he invites Lou for coffee but she turns him down for an actual date. When the loft fails inspection, Lou thinks it's because of her rejection and makes a scene at Maggie's. However, the inspector had actual concerns with the loft and puts a chagrined Lou in her place. Lou realizes she's not ready to date.

- This is Olivia's first appearance in season 9.
- Aside from the recap, this is the second time in the series where Ty is absent for an episode, although he is directly mentioned.
- Soraya is indirectly mentioned in this episode when Amy explained that she had one best friend.
- This is Stephen's final appearance in the series, being he's moving away to Manitoba.
- Georgie assumes the reason Buster freaks out is due to Olivia putting pressure on him, which is exactly what used happen between Ashley and her horse.
- This the first episode where Georgie physically lets her hair down on screen.
