Ray Philips is a minor character in the first season of Heartland. He was the owner of Big River Ranch.
He takes Melody, his pregnant mare, over to Heartland. Jack agreed to take on Melody and to go on a cattle drive with him.
He helped out with the wild Mustangs at Big River.
He is later discovered to have passed away and left Big River to his daughter, Callie. Jack starts the annual Ray Philips Cattle Drive in his memory. It is later revealed that Callie has sold Big River to Tim.
