Initially disliked by much of the Bartlett-Fleming family for being an "Oil Guy", however they eventually warm to him and accept him into the family.

Season 2[]

Peter Morris messages Lou suggesting that they meet as he's in town next week. Initially unsure Lou later invites him to a date at Maggie's he tells her that she'll spot him by being the only one not wearing a cowboy hat. Lou runs into a guy in town accidentally spilling coffee over him, she apologizes and quickly leaves. Lou holds her meeting, gathering ranchers to fight against Bedford Oil when the rep from Bedford arrives, the guy Lou spilt coffee on. He gives a speech about needing to develop a better relationship with ranchers to help in the future. Lou responds to his speech by telling him that they aren't naïve and need to fight for their rights against the oil companies. The next day, ranchers have congregated and created a road block stopping Bedford Oil from getting through. P.W. arrives and helps diffuse the situation telling everyone to go home and promising that no more testing will be done today. He talks to Lou on the side and apologizes with a cheque, she declines it and tells him that she can't be bribed. Lou arrives at Maggie's for her date and see's a guy stood at the juke box without a cowboy hat... P.W. Lou leaves before giving it a chance and when Peter leaves a while later is surprised to see her still sat outside. She tells him she's waiting for her ride and they admit that they enjoyed messaging each other. They confess they were both worried the other would be hideous her a trucker and him short and hairy. Peter kisses her but she still goes to leave, quickly turning back to kiss him again before heading home. (Seismic Shifts)

Lou runs into Peter Morris at Maggie's spilling coffee over him again, she gets embarrassed and goes to leave. He asks if she received the flowers he sent and vows to get a better present, she explains it's not about the present they're too different and stand for different things so can never work. Lou and Peter meet again and he gifts her a thermos for her coffee so she can't spill it on him anymore. He convinces her to have a date where they just talk, like they did online, with no spontaneous make out session. (Do or Die) Peter sends Lou an invite to the ballet, he tells her that he'll pick her up. She calls him and leaves a message not to pick her up that she'll meet him there instead. As Lou's leaving for the ballet she opens the door to find Peter stood on the other side, so slams the door shut. Jack asks if she's ok and she tells him that she couldn't find her keys. She heads out and Peter asks what's going on, she lies and says they got a new puppy and she didn't want it to get out. On the limo ride back Lou asks to be dropped off up the driveway and walks the rest of the way, Peter tries to convince her to let them give her a ride but she's adamant. She tells him she had a really nice time and they share a kiss. (The Ties That Bind) Peter calls Lou inviting her skiing for the weekend, she tells him she can't as she's set up a new winter campaign for the Dude Ranch. When Lou is baking and preparing for the guests to arrive for the Dude Ranch, there's a knock at the door - peterfleming morris. She tells him that she has a large booking and he drops hints and she realises he's the booking. Lou takes Peterfleming morris yerger down to the cabin, he's taking in the surroundings when she drags him inside and closes the curtains. She plays it off as romantic and leaves him to settle in while she goes to tell Ty and Kit that they don't need all the horses, he tells her he still wants to go for a ride so they'll need two horses. Later, Lou brings a picnic down to the cabin and they enjoy a nice evening together, Peter receives a phone call and is concerned about someone's health. He realises it's not serious, he whispers to Lou that it's his father-in-law, and tells the person on the other end to pack up Max's things and he'll pick him up. When he hangs up he's confused to find Lou's gone. Peter fleming morris yergertexts Lou to tell her they need to talk, he tells her he'll come by and she tells him to meet her at the cabin instead. He arrives in a surprise carriage, Lou's angry thinking that he's married. He clarifies that she's his ex-wife when Max jumps up and leaps onto Lou. She realises that Max is his dog not his kid, he assures her that he would have told her if he had kids. Lou and Peter go on the carriage ride, he explains that he and his ex-wife were better as friends and they were both happier after they got a divorce, now sharing custody of Max. He suggests that now she's met Max, he could meet her family. She's hesitant but promises she'll tell them about him. (Full Circle) When Lou runs into Tim in town, Peter sees them and waves but Tim is disgusted with him and Lou pretends not to see him. Lou meets Peter and he's determined to pick her up at the Ranch for their weekend away, Lou's hesitant but he won't take no for an answer. He asks what happened yesterday as he saw her see him, she tries to convince him that she didn't. He asks if she's told her family yet and she tells him that she hasn't but promises to, she see's Amy leave Maggie's and ducks down not to be seen. Peter arrives late at the Ranch and asks where everyone is, Lou tells him that they went out and its his fault for being late. She rushes him out before anyone comes back. Peter stops at Maggie's to get coffee for the road, Lou tries to persuade him to go elsewhere but he goes in anyway. Peter goes in and Mallory see's him, knowing him as P.W. and explains to Jake who he is. Peter heads back to the car and Mallory see's Lou in the car with him, she manages to work out that he's also the "internet guy". Peter hears on the radio that the road is closed due to snow so turns around. He talks with Lou and admits he's not sure that they're going anywhere as it seems that she's embarrassed by him. She tells him she's not and says she's done skulking around and they head back to Heartland to tell the family about him. Lou walks in with Peter and introduces him to Jack, whose not very happy to see him. He re-calls the last time they saw him, when he trespassed and cut fences. When Amy radios to tell Jack about Ty he tells her that he'll drive to get them but Peter tells him about the road closures. Later, Peter's on the phone when Lou's trying to change Jack's mind about Peter but it'll take some time. Peter tells them that he's been able to get one of his guys to go out with a snow plough in the morning. In the morning, Jack's not happy that he can't get through on the radio, when Jack prepares to head out Peter insist on going with him. They go outside and see Amy and Ty pulling up, saying they followed a Bedford Oil plough. Jack later thanks Peter and shakes his hand, him and Lou are happy they've made headway and decide to go to the hotel now the road's open. (Step By Step)

As Lou tells Amy and Ty that she doesn't need a man, Peter arrives with Max and she runs up to hug him. Lou and Peter are at the Dude Ranch, she makes loads of suggestions of activities they could do together when there's a knock at the door. Ty asks for more dance lessons as he's changed his mind. Lou continues to teach Ty to dance and he's starting to get it, Peter cuts in and has a dance with Lou. Ty cuts back in and dances with Peter. The next morning, Lou's trying to cook but when Peter kisses her she tells him he's distracting. They're interrupted when Ty arrives in his suit and he and Amy leave for the dance. At dinner, Lou shares the photos with everyone and they toast to new beginnings. (Man's Best Friend) Lou invites Peter to his first family dinner and he happily accepts. When she sees he has 28 missed calls about his new office she offers for him to stick around for longer. At dinner, Peter and Jack share an opinion about the new cattle and everyone is shocked that they agreed. In the morning, Lou and Peter are at the Dude Ranch and she tries again to get him to stay and work out of her office, he reluctantly agrees. Peter sees Mallory struggling and offers her a break to help him move his office equipment in and tells her he'll pay an extra $5 when she tells him she doesn't get paid. He helps her work out how many hours she's worked and she realizes she's over paid for Copper with sweat equity so goes on strike. Lou and Peter work from the barn office and Lou starts to get annoyed by his habits. They have dinner together at the Dude Ranch and he admits it was a good idea, while Lou tells him she had to ignore his habits like humming and drumming on the desk. She also argues with him about him sticking his nose in with her employees but he claims she doesn't pay Mallory. In the morning, Peter packs up his equipment and leaves hoping they can move past it. Peter later returns and tells her not to take it too seriously that they couldn't work together but she admits she's worried if they moved in together he would throw in the towel easily. He assures her he wouldn't and compliments her, they make up. (Glory Days)

Lou meets Peter in Maggie's and shows him an article in the newspaper about the CEO of Big Sky Industries who's working on Eco-friendly pipelines. She tries to convince him to try and get a meeting with him, he's not sure as there are bigger companies with more money. Eventually he gives in and says he'll try to get a meeting when she tells him that he's staying at the Dude Ranch and has a meeting with him tomorrow. Lou and Peter greet Richard at the Dude Ranch, he tells Peter that Lou lied to get the meeting, but doesn't mind. Later, they sit and chat by the dock about business, Peter bring sup his plans for a project in Dubai. He leaves them to go and get firewood. The next morning, Lou tells Peter and Richard about the Cougar report and that they don't have to go on the trail ride, they're both happy to go still so they set off. Lou tries to tell him about Richard's advances when he thanks her for bringing him here, she stops herself. As they're on their way back, the cougar jumps out growling causing Richard to fall from his horse, they manage to scare it away. They reach the Dude Ranch and Peter goes to get his phone to call Wildlife and Lou helps Richard. He holds her hand and asks her to kiss it better, she tells him to stop and he grabs her more when Peter re-enters the cabin. He immediately tells him that Lou was all over him, Peter and Richard begin fighting and Peter kicks him out. Lou apologizes to Peter but he assures her it's not her fault and has no reason to apologies. After learning about the lawsuit, Peter comforts Lou and promises it will work out. Lou and Peter are sitting in his car outside Richard's hotel, she tells Peter of her plan to talk to him. She calls Peter and leaves her phone open in her bag so he can hear what's happening. She is greeted by Richard and they talk about the lawsuit, he tells her that it's his word against hers and he has more money for better lawyers. He proceeds to tell her that he can make the lawsuit go away, she clarifies that if she spends the night with him he'll drop the lawsuit and he agrees. He tells her that he'd call her a tease, she tells him he's a lecherous old fart and shows him the voice recorder with other women's testimonies of similar stories. Things become physical and Peter rushes in to see that Lou has handled herself, the pair leave. The next day, Lou tells Peter that Richard has dropped the lawsuit, he's happy and tells her he'd have to with the testimonies. She admits that she never spoke to anyone and there's nothing on the recorder. He tells her that he loves her and they share a kiss. (Growing Pains) Peter arrives at Heartland to find Lou babysitting Jerry Junior and offers to help change him. He mentions that there were 7 of them growing up and that he plans on having children some day. Unbeknownst to him, he's made Lou believe that his plans don't involve her. She sends him on a beer run with Max and tells him which ones to get to help grease the wheels with Jack. Later, he offers Jack a beer claiming they too are his favorite, he breaks and tells Jack that Lou told him which to buy. Mallory calls them both over and shows them her montage of Ty for the party. Peter watches Mallory's montage for Ty when Lou arrives and wants to talk to him. She starts to talk to him about his life plans and the fact she's not in them when the phone rings, it's [[Amy Fleming|Amy] telling her about Ty and Scott's plane. After an update from the police, Peter gets onto the phone to his oil guys and manages to get them involved with the search. Peter finds Lou cooking and she tells him about her worries for Ty and Scott, especially as Scott has only had his license a few months. When the police give them a smaller area to work with, Peter and Amy get looking at the map. Amy tries to get out there and search herself but Peter stops her, reassuring her that the police are trained for this so should be left to them. In the morning Amy tells everyone her plan to drive to the closest road then ride Harley into the forest to help look for Ty, after some persuasion everyone agrees to go too. When they arrive Peter starts organizing everyone and splitting up into teams to head in different directions. Tim gets angry with him starting an argument as he's taking charge, later he admits Peter makes him feel useless as he's not able to help in the same way. On a break, Lou tells Peter of her history with Scott and although she loves Peter, would be devastated if anything happened to Scott. Peter receives a radio message of a report of smoke not too far from them, him Amy and Lou head off. After going for a while Peter suggests turning back but Amy spots a glove used by Ty earlier to track his path. They follow them and end up at the plane wreckage. Peter heads in first, until Ty emerges from the plane, he and Amy embrace while Peter and Lou check on Scott. They return to Tim and Jack with Ty, having sent Scott in a chopper to the hospital, Tim thanks him giving him a new nickname of "General". Back at Heartland Peter and Lou settle down to their conversation they never finished. Lou tells him that she thought she was pregnant and at first was horrified after spending time with Jerry Junior realized she did want it, she found out she wasn't pregnant. Peter assures her that his plans involve her and he does want to talk about them having kids in the future. (Eye of the Wolf)

Peter runs into Jack at Maggie's and asks to chat, when he tells him about his fishing trip Peter wrangles an invitation. Peter goes to see Lou, despite promising to help her at the Dude Ranch he tells her that he's now going fishing with Jack, Ty and Tim. He also asks her to watch Max for the weekend as he doesn't do well camping. When Tim tries to rile up Peter by suggesting he knows nothing about fishing he retorts that he used to work as a fishing guide at university. Once they find their spot and set up camp, Tim refuses to sleep in a tent with Peter so ends up protesting by sleeping outside. The next day, Peter tries to talk to Jack and asks for his blessing to propose to Lou, he tells him that it's not up to him but she could do a lot worse, leaving Peter perplexed. Tim takes it personally when he learns that Peter asked for Jack's blessing not his which erupts in a fight between him and Jack. Peter tries to help break it up but is soon left with a black eye when Tim accidentally elbows him. Peter later tells Tim that he imagined them becoming friends after this trip and asks why he doesn't like him. Tim admits that since he wasn't around when Lou was younger and started dating that he takes it all seriously and is a bit overprotective. Tim asks for his blessing and he tells him what Jack said when he also asked about Marion. It's not up to him but she could do a lot worse, entertaining Peter to have the same response from them both. Back at Heartland, Lou and Mallory ask about Tim's split lip and Peter's black eye but the spin a yarn about a branch and a fish. Peter sits with Max and Lou and tells her that they should take a trip together when he's called back into work suddenly leaving Lou disappointed. (Catch and Release)

Lou's busy telling Peter all about the article for the Dude Ranch and how the phones are constantly ringing now, when he invites her to go to Paris with him for a few days. The next day in Maggie's, Lou's really excited about their trip and Peter tells her that he's got a room booked at the same hotel as the conference, disappointing her that it's a work trip. He tells her that in the day she can go shopping and they can spend evenings together. When Peter goes to Heartland to pick up Lou he finds her without any bags. She tells him that Amy wants to do a memorial for Marion, since it's been 2 years, and she wasn't able to go to the funeral so must stay. As everyone's preparing to leave for the memorial, Lou's shocked when Peter turns up. He tells her that he was waiting for his flight but felt he should be here with her instead. He supports Lou through the memorial as they watch Victor burn sweet grass to make the spot sacred. After, Peter and Lou are at the dock at the Dude Ranch and he tells her he's changed his plans as here is perfect. He gets down on one knee and proposes, she says yes! (The Reckoning)

Peter and Lou arrive back at Heartland after a works party. Lou complains about a woman named Poppy Meadow who kept talking to her about Peter's first wedding and how extravagant it was, Lou feels she wants to out do it while Peter suggests eloping. When Peter and Lou meet the next day for lunch, she starts quizzing him on his first wedding; where was it, what did the bride where and where was their honeymoon. He reminds her it's not a competition but is upset when she suggests Paris for the honeymoon and he acts uncomfortable and she realises that's where he went the first time. Later, they talk about flowers, Peter tells her to pick what she wants. She tells him that she wants him to remember this wedding more than the first so wants him involved with decision making. The next day, Peter arrives and talks to Lou. He tells her he's going away for work for a few days so they should take the time to think about what they want from everything, leaving her thinking he's having second thoughts about getting married. When he returns she suggests eloping while he says he's been getting excited about a wedding with their friends and family. (The Happy List)

Lisa gives Lou's email to a friend of a friend who gives it to her son. Originally Lou's furious and refuses to have any part of it, until he sends her a nice email. After the wedding of Mackenzie and Ian, she receives some inspiration and decides to reply. They start messaging online and agree to meet at Maggie's. Before they meet Lou holds a meeting to fight against Bedford Oil for testing at the local ranches, owner P.W. attends to talk to them, rubbing up Lou the wrong way. Lou later goes to her date and is shocked when it turns out to be, none other than, P.W. - Peter. She blows off the date but later kisses him anyway. After a difficult start they agree to have a date where they just talk, despite everything that could keep them apart. After they spend time together, when Peter rents out the whole Dude Ranch, Lou learns he has an ex-wife and shares custody of their dog Max. He then asks to meet her family, she promises to tell them about him soon. When Lou pretends not to see Peter in town with Tim, he gets upset and starts to doubt their relationship. She tells him that she'll tell her family about him and go straight to Heartland. Jack takes a bit of time coming around to Peter, when he helps bring Amy and Ty back safely he starts to make headway. Lou and Peter decide to go away for the weekend.


Lou struggles with missing Peter while he's away, she tries to find the balance of a long distance relationship. When Peter does visit, Lou tries to plan lots of things to do together rather than just enjoying being together. When they try to work together out of the office, it soon becomes clear that Peter has some annoying habits and quickly moves out. Lou admits to him that she's worried if they moved in together he would be quick to throw in the towel, he assures her he wouldn't as she's extraordinary and they make up. After Lou tries to help Peter make connections with fellow oil businessman, Richard Chenoweth, Lou finds herself in an uncomfortable situation when she declines his advances and he later sues her for negligence after the cougar incident. Peter stands by her side and supports her later declaring his love for her. When Lou starts to think she might be pregnant, she worries that hers and Peter's plans for the future aren't the same. She eventually talks to him and tells him that she thought she was pregnant but isn't. He tells her that she's definitely part of his plans and wants to talk about having kids one day. When Peter joins Tim and Jack on a fishing trip, he uses the opportunity to ask both of them for their blessing to propose to Lou. Peter invites Lou to Paris for 3 days, unbeknownst to her it's a business trip. When she changes her mind due to Marion's memorial, she's left shocked when he too decides to stay with her. He later finds a perfect spot by the Dude Ranch and proposes to her there, rather than in Paris.
