Mitch Cutty is a former stablehand and a former love interest of Lou Fleming.
History[]
After a failed first date, Lou and Mitch briefly part ways. After demonstrating his cattle rounding ability to Jack, Mitch is hired to work as a ranch hand at Heartland Ranch, unbeknownst to Lou. The close-knit living situation eventually causes Mitch and Lou to begin dating. He later becomes a business partner alongside Jack and Tim in Heartland Beef.
After becoming dissatisfied with their communal living situation, Mitch purchases a ranch nearby as a home for Lou and himself. A disagreement regarding herd expansion causes Mitch to sell his partnership of Heartland Beef. He builds his own herd on his ranch and begins selling his own brand of beef, inadvertently creating direct competition with Heartland Beef. Despite the business tension, Mitch and Lou continue to date.
After deciding their future life goals were too different, Lou makes the difficult decision to instead rekindle her relationship with Peter. Heartbroken, Mitch sells his cattle herd to Heartland and moves away.
Season 9[]
After wishing to move on from Peter, Lou matches with Mitch on an online dating website. Their first encounter goes well at first, until they begin talking further and discover that, while Lou is looking for a long-term partner, Mitch is looking for a much more casual hook-up. As a result, their date quickly ends.
After Caleb's negligence allows a group of cattle to escape through a damaged fench, Mitch assists with rounding them up. A grateful Jack offers him a job as a stable hand at Heartland.
Season 14[]
Mitch and Lou's relationship begins to deteriorate regarding their goals involving future children. Mitch desires children of his own. Lou on the other hand, already has Katie and Georgie and feels that she is done having kids.
While initially acceptant of Lou's decision, he quicky renegs and informs her that he still wants children of his own. The disagreement proves too much for the two of them to negiotiate, and they break up.
