Mackeznie Hutton is a friend of Lou's, they never met in New York as Mackenzie was hired just after Lou left to return to Heartland. When she, Nicole and Lauren came for a weekend at the Dude Ranch they become friends.
Season 2[]
Mackenzie is introduced to Lou, Nicole and Lauren tell her that Mackenzie started working at Strickland and Cooke after Lou left. Lou gets them started with "team-building" tasks and gets them to clean the barn and pick and mount a horse. At dinner, they're gossiping about Strickland and Cooke and Mackenzie tells Lou that Lauren has been promoted and now has her job. She tells the others that she can't eat the food because of all her allergies. On the trail ride she and Nicole start to get annoyed with each other and try to have some space but Betty and Slick won't separate from each other. At the camp, all the girls start to get frustrated and all begin arguing with each other and pointing out each other's flaws. Back at the Dude Ranch Lou arrives to apologise to them, instead they apologise to her and tell her it was an amazing experience. (Corporate Cowgirls) Mackenzie arrives at Heartland, she tells Lou that Ian will be arriving late and her luggage with her wedding dress is lost, but remains calm. Lou is shocked at her demeanour after how she was last time. Mackenzie tells her that Ian has helped her become more spontaneous and doesn't feel the need to control everything. After dinner, Mackenzie enjoys the meal and everyone is shocked at her new diet, she can eat. She explains that her nutritionist shares their opinion and is shocked at how many of her allergies have gone since meeting Ian. She tells them that the weekend at the Dude Ranch changed her life, she went home dumped her boyfriend and quit her job. Lisa learns who her parents are and starts to interfere with wedding plans. Mackenzie arrives back from a shopping trip, her bags have still not arrived, Lisa starts to introduce some of her new ideas and Mackenzie tells Lou that the wedding is now a little bigger than expected. She sees Diva Girl and asks Amy if she's for sale. Amy laughs a having a horse in new York but Mackenzie tells her that Ian's family have a ranch in Montana. After Ian arrives they all sit down to dinner, the start talking about the wedding plans and Ian is shocked that it's getting bigger than they had originally planned. The next day, at the Dude Ranch Ian and Mackenzie are talking with Lou about he wedding plans. Ian and Mackenzie get into an argument about the size of the wedding and why they're having the wedding they didn't want in New York. Mackenzie tells Lou the wedding is off and her neurosis starts to come back, Lou tries to get her to stop making big decisions and she tells her to go and lie down. Later, Mackenzie tells everyone that the invites have all been cancelled. Ian arrives back at Heartland and makes a grand gesture by riding in on a horse dressed as a knight in shining armour, as Mackenzie called him when they first met. They decide to carry on and get married with Lou as the maid of honour and Jack giving her away. After the wedding Lisa gifts Mackenzie Diva with the agreement that she gets their first born if they breed her. (Divorce Horse)
