Eclipse of the Heart is the fifteenth episode in the eighth season of the CBC drama Heartland. It originally aired March 8, 2015.
Synopsis[]
Lou returns from Vancouver with an admission that threatens to change the Heartland family forever; she and Peter are separating. Meanwhile, Jack intervenes when he discovers that Tim intends to crash Miranda's wedding in Moose Jaw. Then, when Amy helps Caleb source a horse for Tim's rodeo school, she learns just how precarious Caleb's business partnership is with Jesse. And Georgie fights disappointment when it looks like Peter won't make it home to take in the lunar eclipse with her.
Plot[]
Lou returns from Vancouver by herself and launches into the wedding plans. Georgie is disappointed that Peter might not return home to watch the lunar eclipse with her. Lou reminiscences about Peter. Tim asks Caleb to find another horse for the school while he leaves town. Amy suggests a good horse for Caleb. Jack goes after Tim, catching him before he can interrupt Miranda's wedding. When Caleb tries to buy the horse as cheaply as possible, Amy realizes that Caleb's partnership with Jesse is struggling. Lou tells Amy that she and Peter are separating. Peter arrives and helps Georgie with the telescope for the eclipse. Lou and Peter agree that their decision is best for them.

- Aside from the recap, this is the first episode of the series that Ty does not appear in.
- This is due to him visiting Lilly in rehab.
- Lou returns after being absent from two episodes.
- Georgie wears braided pigtails for the first time in this episode.
- Archival footage from seasons 2 through 7, as well as from this season, are shown in this episode in regards to Lou and Peter.
- After hearing about Miranda's wedding from Shane in the preceding episode, Tim nearly decides to go to it and crash it until Jack stops him.
- Amy allows Lou to go full on herself when she accepts the idea of the wedding venue.
- Amy reveals that she wants a dress that's not too tight, but not too poofy.
- Goof: when Jack stops Tim from going to the wedding, the area they are in has snow. Later towards the end of the episode, the snow has somehow disappeared and only grass is shown, though it's likely that the snow melted during their talk.
